Climate in North Dakota

Max, North Dakota

Max is a small town of about 287 people.

Even with this small size its low temperatures are rising nearly all year, and its high temperatures are rising in the late winter and spring.

The fastest rise occurs in February. Both high and low temperatures are rising. Before 1975 the lows are below 4'F most of the time. After 1980 the lows are above 4'F most of the time.

In October both high and low temperatures are falling. The fastest decline occurred in the 1960's.

In July the highs are falling and the lows are rising. After 1993 both lows and highs appear to be rising.

Lemmon, South Dakota

Lemmon sits near the North Dakota boarder.

Lemmon is warming more than Max to the north. The only decline in temperature is the October highs.

January's temperatures are rising more than 1'F per decade. This seems odd since the temperatures appear to be falling before 1975.

In october highs are dropping slightly. The drops appear to occur in jumps.

July is interesting, because after a sudden drop around 1991, temperatures appear to be rising rapidly.
